Molecular biology in a genomic age – John Quackenbush

A crucial aspect of what we will be learning in the Winter School is how, awash with increasing   volumes of genomic data, we can move from data to knowledge and from knowledge to understanding. One of the critical things that distinguishes computational biology and bioinformatics is its focus on methods that facilitate interpretation  of the data we can now (too) easily generate.

This introductory lecture will introduce the basics of molecular biology and genomics with a focus on   those aspects necessary for successfully analyzing and interpreting genomic data in the context of the systems that underlie the functioning of biological systems.
