De novo transcriptome assembly – Nicole Cloonan

One of the major outstanding computational challenges of RNAseq data analysis is to re ‐ assemble complete transcripts from the short reads produced by next generation sequencing. Whilst much effort has been put into writing programs for de novo genome assembly, some of the assumptions made by these programs are not appropriate for use in transcriptome assembly. This talk will describe the pros and cons of the currently available tools, and outline the new program that we have written to tackle this problem.
